Caring Hearts Blog Hop 2016

caring-hearts

Hello friends! Welcome to the Caring Hearts Card Drive Blog Hop! Our purpose is to collect handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes around the world. Since 2010, we have been spreading holiday cheer to many nursing homes throughout the US, Canada and Australia, and this year, we are branching out to the UK!

It truly makes me happy that I can bring a little joy to folks by doing my favorite thing – making cards! My grandfather used to live in a nursing home before he passed away. So, I have special feelings about nursing home and the elderly who live there. We really hope you will join us in supporting this meaningful cause! For those of you who wants to participate, we have prepared a lot of prizes for many winners. All you have to do is send us your handmade cards with a message inside. For details of entry and prizes, please refer to Vera Yates’ Blog and Jennifer McGuire’s Blog.

OK! Now, let’s move onto my card! I used the Die-namics Gift Box Cover-Up to frame the snowflakes, just like looking at the snow outside the window. I can’t seem to steer away from the warm color scheme 😛

Here is how I made my card:

  1. Die cut a piece of watercolor paper with the Die-namics Gift Box Cover-Up. Use masking tape to mask the lower half of the panel, blend Festive Berries on the top part. Do the same to the bottom part with Wild Honey
  2. On another piece of watercolor paper, blend the same inks as background
  3. Stamp the snowflakes with MFT hybrid inks (Red Hot, Pineapple, Latte). Die cut out with Die-namics Simply Snowflakes. Stamp some small snowflakes with hybrid inks (Paver Red, Orange Zest)
  4. White heat emboss the sentiment on black card stock
  5. Mount everything as shown in place with foam tape. Add water droplets. Embellish with some PPP sequins (4mm Lavender Moon, 4mm Clear Droplets, 4mm Strawberry Burst, 4mm Sunshine Glow, 6mm Metallic Rose Gold). Again, I used a lot of colored sequins :))

october_bloghop

Hello friends! Welcome! It is time for Pretty Pink Posh‘s October Release Blog Hop! This release is a big one and full of amazing stuff!! Today, I am sharing two simple projects as I slowly get back into my groove  🙂

For my first project, I am using the super cute Halloween Friends Stamp Set and 1/4″ Gold Star Confetti. My project is inspired by Yoonsun. Here are my three Halloween tags and more details.

tags-1-2-watermarked

tags-1-1-watermarked

  1. Stamp the Halloween Friends with Copic-friendly blue ink on Neenah Solar White 80lb card stock. Color with Copic markers. I was thrilled to try out some new colors I got from Tokyo!! 🙂
  2. Die cut out three tags from watercolor paper using Stitched Essentials 1 Dies. Blend distress inks to color the tags – Red (Festive Berries, Fired Brick), Yellow (Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey) and Purple (Seedless Preserve, Wilted Violet). To add some sparkle, I have used 1/4″ Gold Star Confetti to fill in the shaker window
  3. White heat emboss the sentiment on SSS Black Card Stock and fussy cut out
  4. Mount everything with foam tape to finish

My second project is all about Thanksgiving. I am showcasing the Giving Thanks Stamp Set and I have used the Stitched Pieces Die to frame my scene.

card-2-1-watermarked

card-2-2-watermarked

  1. On watercolor paper, stamp out a simple scene using the pumpkins from Giving Thanks Stamp Set and the tree branches from Birdie Friends Stamp Set. Stamp the pilgrim cuties on a separate piece of watercolor paper. Watercolor everything with distress inks and followed by colored pencils
  2. Die cut three windows from SSS Sunshine Card Stock using the Stitched Pieces Die. Add the top and bottom stitched borders using the Stitched Borders 2 Dies. White heat emboss the sentiment
  3. Assemble the shaker with acetate, foam tape and PPP mixed sequins – 1/4″ Gold Star Confetti6mm Metallic Rose Gold and 4mm Pumpkin. I like how the sequins resemble the falling leaves from the branches

Create A Smile Challenge Launch Blog Hop

Launch Blog Hop graphic

Hello!! Welcome to Create A Smile Challenge Launch Blog Hop! I’m so happy to share with you that Create A Smile will have monthly challenges from now on! Today, our team has put together a blog hop to start the fun 🙂

favorite

The theme of this month’s challenge is “Favorite”. Summer is almost here and I am a big fan of water. I love swimming and playing water. I also love watching sea animal documentaries. So today, I am using the Underwaterlove stamp set for some deep sea fun!

Here is what I come up with. More details below:

Great Catch (1)

Great Catch (2)

  1. On watercolor paper, blend distress inks of Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon and Stormy Sky to create an underwater world. I left white space towards the top middle to indicate light penetrating through the water
  2. Flick some water droplets using a paint brush to make bubbles. Make more bubbles in the bottom and less at the top. Then, I spritzed Perfect Pearl solution over the whole panel to add gorgeous sparkle. My camera doesn’t do this justice at all! The sparkle is stunning in person!!
  3. Stamp the narwhals in black and color with Pumice Stone distress marker. Stamp the sentiment in black as well. Then, on another piece of white paper, stamp the sentiment again in teal/blue gradient. Cut out the word “catch” and mount with foam tape, slightly off set from the black sentiment to get the drop shadow
  4. Mount the narwhals with glue. I didn’t adhere their tails so they’d fly off the paper. I like it because it adds more movement to the card. Finish with some PPP Blue Bermuda and Clear Sparkling sequins

Great Catch (3)

I love this card so much!!! The background definitely is the star of the show and those narwhals look like they’re pretty happy with it too 🙂 Oh and when I showed my mom this card, she asked me if those are unicorn dolphins!!!! LOL
