MFT & Avery Elle – Oceans of Love

Hi friends! As you can see, I’m addicted to cardmaking again! I want to share my mermaid card with you today. My inspiration comes from the Avery Elle Canopy Stamp Set.

DSCN9771-3-14-15.jpg

I have used this stamp set in different ways before and it is still my all time favorite. If you don’t have it, I highly recommend it because it is so versatile!! I used it as flowers here and turned it upside down as garden bush here. You can see the photos below. For today however, I’m using it as coral reef. This is so fun!

I first heat embossed the flowers and the sentiment in white on watercolor paper. Then, I created the background with Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Dusty Concord Distress Inks. I added water droplets for the underwater feel. Once we’ve added the underwater colors, the flowers totally tricked your brain that they are corals!

I stamped out the images from MFT¬†BB Mermazing Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Then, I colored them with Copic Markers and added highlights with white gel pen. I have listed all the colors I used below so feel free to use them as reference ūüôā Finally, I die cut them out using MFT¬†BB Mermazing Die-namics.

To finish, I die cut the card panel with SSS Basic Rectangles Die (second largest) and mounted everything on a card base using foam tape and Scor-Tape.

That’s it for today. Thank you for stopping by! Happy crafting! ūüôā

Oh Happy Day Card

Hi crafty friends! I’m popping in today to share with you my Oh Happy Day card. I was inspired by the summer colors of ocean and passion fruit cocktail. Here is my card.

DSCN9784-2-10-11

DSCN9799-10-11

I first took a piece of watercolor paper and blend Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks onto all four edges. I left the middle white but the corners darker to create more depth. I also splattered water onto the panel with a paint brush and plotted dry to make bubbles.

DSCN9795-10-12.jpg

Then, I colored the intricate die cut with Copic markers. The colors I used are listed below. When everything was dry, I adhered the die cut onto my card with Ranger Multi Medium Matte to finish.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day!

MFT – You’re a Treasure

Hi friends! Today I want to share with you my pirate card using MFT Party Like a Pirate Stamp Set.

DSCN9745-11

DSCN9743-1-11

I started out stamping the super cute pirates and accessories with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then, I colored them with Copic markers and added highlights with a Jelly Roll Pen. After that, I die cut them with MFT Party Like a Pirate Die-namics.

For the background, I blended Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio inks. I added water droplets and ink splatters on it. I used bigger paint brush for the water and smaller brush for the ink splatters. Then, I die cut the panel with MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics. To ground the pirates, I die cut a beach using SSS Nested Circles Die and ink blend with Scattered Straw ink.

To finish, I foam mounted everything onto a white card base and added the speech bubble with white embossed sentiment.

Copic Drawing – Rurouni Kenshin

kenshin-8

Hi there! Today’s post is not about cards. Instead it’s a drawing I recently finished. The character I’m drawing is Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin. It’s a Japanese anime from the 90s that features the story around this samurai. There’s fighting, cuteness and a little bit of romance. You might think it’s old news but I just love it so so much!! I guess we all have something from our childhood that we can’t seem to move on from. To me, it’s Kenshin ūüôā

The drawing I did this time was referenced from the last manga book of the series. Here is the cover, with Kenshin holding his sword and his girlfriend behind him. My goal was to draw out Kenshin as close to the original as possible without tracing it. I feel like this would be a good practice for me, in figuring out lines, shapes and proportions. You gotta start somewhere you know, right?!

Kenshinvolume28.jpg

I first started out with a pencil draft below. When I took this photo, something was still off. I feel like the person didn’t look quite right. So, I stopped and walked away. When I come back to look at it, I could discover new things that I needed to correct. Slowly, I could get it to look better, at least I was happy enough to do the line art and color it!

And then comes the super fun part – coloring! I used Copic markers to color the whole image. I first layered on super light colors, leaving the highlights. In this case, the highlights are white and yellow because I think he was facing the sun. Then, I added on darker and darker colors layer by layer, with drying in between to prevent bleeding. At the end, my image looks a lot bolder than the original, which I really like!

I also used a thicker Copic multi-liner to outline the outer lines to make it even more anime like. ¬†If you’re interested in the colors I used, I have them listed below. Please bear in mind that I’m not a professional artist so I’m still experimenting with everything, you don’t have to follow me!

Skin tone: E0000, YR000, YR00, E00, YR02, R12

Hair: Y11 as base, YR00, E11, E13, E15, E19, E44 (with a bit of YR27)

Yellow Highlights: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, YR15

Robe: R14, R17, R37, R39, R89

Hair band: B26

Shadow on white parts: W1, W5, W7

Alright, that’s it! Thank you so much for reading and letting me share my drawing with you! Hopefully I will have some time to share my cards soon! Until then, see you next time!

Altenew 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop & Giveaway

Hello there! I’m super excited to join Altenew today for their Anniversary blog hop! I can’t believe they are already three years old! Do you still remember when they first came up with multi-layering stamps? They totally blew my mind off and I’ve loved them to this very day!
I have missed crafting so so much! During my “absence”, I’ve been collecting different inspirations from artists. I really enjoy trying new things and I never get tired of finding new techniques and styles! Hopefully my cards today will inspire you too!

Remember This (1)

Remember This (4)

For my first card, I’ve created a romantic watercolor card using the Remember This Stamp Set. I first stamped the outlines of flowers and leaves with Antique Linen distress ink on Arches cold press watercolor paper. Then, I slowly watercolored the images with my Schmincke watercolor palette, I have used shades of peach, pink, oranges, red and green in my flowers to bring variations. To add even more depth to the flowers, I used my Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils to darken parts of my shading. During coloring, I didn’t follow the line of each petal so I ended up altering the floral images a bit. You can see all the stamens are gone! I really like this process because it made me feel so free and creative!

Remember This (2)

For the background, I did a soft wash with Antique Linen and Worn Lipstick distress inks. Then, I die cut out the panel with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Die Set. For the sentiment, I used the same green paint to watercolor a strip of paper. Then, I white heat embossed the loving sentiment from Sentiments & Quotes Stamp Set. To finish, I simply mounted the whole panel on Simon Says Stamp Fog card base with foam tape.

Amazing You (3)

For my second card, I did a completely different style with Spring colors. I wanted my card to have a more cartoony style. So I altered the style of the Amazing You Stamp Set. I did it by stamping the images using a light ink, then using the outline as a guide, I doodled in the flowers with a Sepia Copic Multi-liner. I’ve added in folds and dots to make the flowers more cute and cartoony. Then, I colored the flowers and leaves with Copic markers.

Amazing You (1)

To complement the cute flowers, I painted a simple Spring scene with my Copic markers for the background. I scribbled in some grasses and added in some small dots to indicate wind movement. I left out a lot of details in the background because I didn’t want to distract from the flowers. Turns out I really love this style! I can feel the warm breeze by looking at it!

Amazing You (2)

To finish, I framed the scene with some White Wood paper and foam tape, added the sentiment (from Bejeweled Stamp Set), and embellished with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins. I have used a mix of colored sequins from Sunshine Glow 4mm, Wisteria Blossoms Mix, Holiday Shimmer Mix and Clear Sparkling Mix.
