Watercolor on Gold Foil

blog header

Hello friends! I am popping in today with some easy project ideas. I have recently received some Paint & Create Cards from DCWV and I thought they were fun and worth sharing. These cards are 5″x7″ cards made out of watercolor paper. They already have pretty gold-foiled pattern on them and they come with a small watercolor palette, a brush and some white envelopes.

I have chosen to work with the “I Love You” and the flowers. To start, I first added a wash of water over the whole card. Then, I loosely painted a big heart around the “I Love You” word. The gold foil resisted the watercolor just like heat embossing. I love it! To finish, I added some white paint splatters over it.

For the flower card, I simply filled in the beautiful flowers with springy colors and it came out beautiful!

Some tips for working with these cards:

  1. Don’t add too much water because the paper would warp easily. You can also tape the four sides of your project with painter’s tape before you start painting
  2. If your project is already warped, wait for it to dry, then sandwich it with some printing paper and run it through your die cut machine. This is a trick I use very often and it will definitely flatten it out 🙂

That’s it for today. Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful day!
